A Scottish social care charity has been marking a milestone birthday this week. This week marks the 80th birthday of the Camphill movement. The first Camphill community was established in 1940 when the north east of Scotland offered sanctuary to a group of mainly Austrian Jewish refugees fleeing from Nazism. The founder of Camphill, Karl Konig, had made it his life�s task to create inclusive communities, where people with learning disabilities and other support needs would be treated equally, and with dignity and respect. The first of these communities was in Milltimber, Aberdeenshire, where the Camphill Rudolf Steiner Schools were established with the help of local business people and other supporters.
